Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered the Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was born as the only child of her mother who was a homemaker and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney was a child with her four brothers. The idea of being a reporter for the court in childhood but started modelling while at high school, eventually earning commercials after moving into New York. When she was a teenager, her first role as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. The career of Delaney has been filled with a variety of television shows and dramas. In contrast to her career success, her personal life is not successful and happy. The talented actor has had to battle alcoholism, as well as two marriages that failed. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her one son.
